How to become a stockbroker in South Africa

To be a Stockbroker in South Africa you need to be a member of the South African Institute of Stockbrokers (SAIS). To be a member of SAIS you need to write and pass the SAIS Board Exams.

Requirements to sit for the SAIS Board Exams
Those who have written and passed or have been granted exemption from all of the following:
1. Registered Persons Exam for the Futures Market (5 modules)
2. JSE Settlement Officer Exam
3. JSE Compliance Exam


OR
1 Those with the following qualifications:
2 B.Com (Hons)(Investment Advice)
3 Chartered Accountant (South Africa)
4 Chartered Financial Analyst

OR
1 Those who have completed a degree AND the one-year SAIS bridging course “Programme
in Investment Analysis & Portfolio Management” at UNISA. The SAIS requirement is that
all five modules of this course must be completed.
